Environmental Identities

Environmental Identities considers identity as something formed through ongoing contact with place rather than through fixed narratives or stable markers. The installation approaches environments as active forces that shape perception, memory, and belonging over time, allowing identity to emerge through exposure, adaptation, and response rather than resolution. Meaning accumulates through proximity and duration, emphasizing process over conclusion. Video loops and other moving images are embedded within the installation via LCD screens, as temporal interruptions rather than narrative illustrations. These video elements introduce shifts in rhythm and attention, mirroring how environmental forces register unevenly and often fragmentarily. Through this interplay of stillness and motion, the work frames identity as contingent and fluid, shaped by environments that are themselves unstable and constantly transforming.
