The miniature dioramas illustrate “migrant momentos”— like the writer Lia Purpura claims, “small enough to take with you out of a burning house or any other form of disaster”. They are a series of misfortunes and personal stories encapsulated in between the forms of a theatre set design and the qualities of a home book shelf. These miniature landscapes are based on recent walks in my home of Puerto Rico, and references to ever increasing inaccessible landscapes “as seen from above”, a popular news media trope of reporting on disasters with an eye for totality.
